‘The Leadership Crisis at County Hall’ 3 April, 2011

It is the ‘meme’ that will not die – the YouTube ‘Downfall’ parody. There is scarcely an area inviting public comment which hasn’t generated a re-subtitled clip taken from the classic German depiction of the last days of Hitler, and the continued infighting among Cornwall Council’s Conservative group is no exception. This appeared on YouTube over the weekend and I felt the decent thing to do was to share it:

One can’t help but feel sorry for Bruno Ganz, whose outstanding performance as the deluded German dictator will probably be forever overshadowed by the variety of guises he has unwittingly assumed as internet mischief-makers poke fun at the rich, the powerful and the easy-to-ridicule. Never mind.
